CMEF & ICMD 2016: WACKER Will Present Silicone Products for the Medical Industry
WACKER will present ELASTOSIL® R plus 4020, a one-part silicone rubber, at this year’s CMEF & ICMD (China International Medical Equipment Fair and International Component Manufacturing & Design Show). The product features high tear resistance and long shelf life, and allows for the convenient and efficient manufacture of moulded articles. Other WACKER product highlights include SILPURAN® 6600, a low-friction-coefficient liquid silicone rubber series which is free from migratory low-molecule silicone fluid, as well as SILPURAN® 2117, a skin-friendly silicone gel adhesive for wound care. CMEF & ICMD 2016 will take place in Shanghai, China, from April 17 to 20.
ELASTOSIL® R plus 4020 is a one-part platinum-catalysed addition-curing silicone rubber, featuring four grades with shore A hardnesses ranging from 40 to 70. Cured articles show excellent transparency and very high tear resistance. They feature long shelf life and are easy to handle during mould pressing. Properly post-cured vulcanizates of ELASTOSIL® R plus 4020 can be used for food contact applications and complies with safety standards of the German agency for risk assessment (Bundesinstitut für Risikobewertung, BfR) and the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
SILPURAN® 6600 Low-Friction-Coefficient Liquid Silicone Rubber Series
During CMEF & ICMD 2016, WACKER will also present SILPURAN® 6600, a two-component liquid silicone rubber. Shore A hardness ranges from 40 to 60. The paste-like product has a short curing time, shows a low coefficient of friction and offers a pleasant hand-touch. Easy to remove from mould after injection, SILPURAN® 6600 helps to reduce product waste and to enhance productivity. It is thus particularly suitable for the economical production of large series of injection-moulded articles. Moreover, via improvement on molecule structure, SILPURAN® 6600 does not contain any migratory low-molecule silicone fluid. It complies with safety standards of the German agency for risk assessment (BfR) and the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
SILPURAN® 2117 Silicone Gel
SILPURAN® 2117 provides advantageous properties such as enhanced tack in direct skin applications and where hypo-allergenic skin adhesion is a crucial requirement. Dressings using this soft silicone gel are breathable due to high vapor permeability of the silicone, protect the wound site from bacteria, are waterproof and help promote an optimized healing environment. The gentle properties of SILPURAN® 2117 silicone adhesive gel enable easy removal without causing damage or pain to the surrounding skin area. Excellent tack makes SILPURAN® 2117 the preferred choice for direct skin adhesive wound care.
