SILRES® BS 710
SILRES® BS 710 is a permanent anti-graffiti coating for the protection of concrete, masonry, wood and pre-existing coatings. Before application it should be diluted with 30-50% organic solvent. It is based on polyorganosiloxanes and provides excellent performance against exterior elements such as rain, sun and temperature extremes. SILRES® BS 710 is a single component product, that cures at room temperature with ambient moisture. The cured coating provides excellent release and ease of removal of most permanent markers and aerosol paints.

SILRES® BS 710 contains a select mixture of silicone compounds. The relatively high molecular weight silicone ingredients react with moisture under formation of the anti-graffiti coating with an excellent adhesion to the host surface. Thereby it is improving its weathering resistance and breathability.

Particularly suitable for mineral building materials such as concrete, brick, limesandstone, natural and artificial stone, plaster, wood and coated metal surfaces as a permanent protection against graffiti. SILRES® BS 710 is to use only after a thorough examination on coated metal and plastic surfaces and possibly in combination with a suitable primer.
Processing
Apply SILRES® BS 710 to a clean dry surface. Surface may be cleaned by scrubbing or power washing with a common solvent or cleaner.
SILRES® BS 710 is preferred for anti-graffiti protection of vertical surfaces.
SILRES® BS 710 is also suitable for protecting of horizontal surfaces without mechanical stress.
SILRES® BS 710 can be thinned to the desired application viscosity. Aliphatic solvents are the preferred choice. Other solvents may be used however all combinations must be tested to ensure clarity of the coating, solvency and stability. Weak solvent combinations can lead to a loss of cure, clarity or even precipitation of the coating’s solids. For this reason methyl acetate is not recommended.
After dilution, the ready-to-use product should be filtered through a 100 μm filter.
SILRES® BS 710 is applied using an airless sprayer. However, brush or roller are also suitable methods of application for small surface areas. Primer is not needed prior to SILRES® BS 710 to most common mineral surfaces.
On plastics and paints, the surface must be primed before application of SILRES® BS 710.
Due to it’s consistency SILRES® BS 710 is easy to be applied in a single coat.
A test area should be applied especially on painted or existing graffiti surfaces.
With proper protective equipment SILRES® BS 710 may be applied via industrial spray application methods such as airless and conventional spray. See SDS for proper protective equipment. After use, the spray equipment and lines must immediately be flushed with solvents to prevent the coating from curing and forming a tough adherent cured film.
SILRES® BS 710 cures quickly once applied to dry substrates and exposed to humidity in the air. Curing occurs at the surface and progresses to the substrate based on the available ambient moisture. Complete drying for heavier film builds may require up to 24 hours.
Containers, once opened, should be used until empty. Any remaining coating, exposed to air will continue to cure and thicken resulting in surface skinning and increased viscosity.
