Europe’s state-of-the-art launch vehicle, Ariane 5, carries satellites and other high-tech equipment into orbit on a regular basis. An Ariane 5 recently carried two valuable telescopes, the “Herschel” and “Planck,” into space. WACKER chemists also play their part in the rocket’s successful missions: they supply an adhesive that is indispensable for the latest Ariane 5 rocket generation.

Architects and artists have been using stained glass to achieve special effects for many centuries. Lead used to supply the fragile glass with the required support, but nowadays adhesive bonding is preferred. However, conventional adhesives only bond to industrially manufactured glass. For hand-blown glass, such as that produced by Lamberts glassworks, two-part adhesives from WACKER can be used. These silicone adhesive systems open up completely new creative possibilities for craftsmen and artists working with glass.
