Safety in Lab
The general public measures chemical companies by how credibly they practice and communicate safety. Accordingly, our plant safety concept (ANSIKO) makes provision for both functional crisis management and effective error prevention in order to avoid incidents and accidents. And we naturally make our expertise available to society at large whenever there is a fire "out there." To this end, WACKER maintains the Transport, Accident and Information System (TUIS); our fire and dangerous goods experts provide information by telephone and we support the local firefighters with equipment and know-how. True to our vision of "no work or commute-related accidents, and no occupational illnesses," we measure our performance against annual targets, quoting the results in statistical form. We record and analyze dangerous incidents so as to prevent similar situations from arising in the future.

Example: Accident prevention with "Near Miss"

In June 2004, Siltronic's Singapore site launched the "Near Miss" campaign for preventing accidents and for early identification of danger sources. Employees at the site were enrolled in the training and campaign program, and sensitized with regard to identifying, reporting and thus eliminating dangers.
