SafetySafety

WACKER’s aim when it designs plants and processes is to ensure that they pose no risk to people or the environment. We consequently make safety management a comprehensive, groupwide undertaking. Our systematic approach to workplace safety includes performing regular risk assessments and monitoring work areas. In order to ensure safe production conditions, we analyze the risks posed by our plants – from the early design phase to start-up.
WACKER attaches particular importance to the training of its safety experts, holding regular courses on topics such as plant safety and explosion protection, for example. Experts from the Group organize safety training at international WACKER sites. But it’s not only our safety ex-perts who are regularly trained. All our employees are given safety instruction specific to their individual work areas.
In 2010, we started rolling out a new safety program in Germany. Called WACKER Safety Plus, the program will adopt safety elements that have been successfully employed by sites and subsidiaries with particularly low accident rates.
In order to make certain that its products are stored and transported safely, WACKER performs stringent vehicle inspections before loading materials for shipment – especially when those materials are hazardous. If a vehicle fails inspection, we continue sending it back until it passes. The failure rate has been low for many years.
