WACKER is investing in new sites and production plants worldwide. In addition, MRO (Maintenance, Repair & Operations) procurement generates a consistently high procurement volume. This huge strength of innovation and investment can also be seen in the technical procurement portfolio.
WACKER’s technical procurement is centrally organized and uses a close-knit network of international, locally based purchasing teams to maximize the provision of supplies to sites and plants. This includes the customer-oriented procurement of needs-based technical materials such as instrumentation and control equipment, technical parts such as instruments, fittings and pipes, packaging materials, IT, lab equipment, office products and much, much more. The provision of services such as planning and assembly work, building planning and design, logistics and transport solutions and external training also fall within the remit of purchasing. One particular challenge here is the realization of WACKER’s investment projects worldwide, with Purchasing taking on a central role. To provide targeted support of more complex projects, we have dedicated project purchasers as an additional interface working alongside established Procurement managers organized by material groups.
Specialists with experience of markets and products provide targeted management and project-specific handling to ensure optimum procurement processes. Important key factors include standardization and automation of procurement processes and operational routines through process analyses, advanced SAP expertise and the use of e-procurement tools.
