Adrian, MI November 12, 2008 – Wacker Chemie AG, Munich and its NA headquarters office, Wacker Chemical Corporation, Adrian, MI released details today about construction of a new 67,000 / ft2 WACKER POLYMERS AMERICA Headquarters facility at a ground breaking ceremony held in the Lehigh Valley, PA area of Allentown. The new facility is being developed to bring the Company’s North America based WACKER POLYMERS operations together under one roof. The decision to construct the new facility and remain in the Allentown area follows the result of an acquisition announced earlier this year by Wacker Chemie AG of Air Products Polymers (APP) and Wacker Polymer Systems (WPS), its two former joint ventures with Air Products and Chemicals, Inc.

In releasing details about construction of the new WACKER POLYMERS AMERICA Headquarters, Company officials said the facility is to be located in the Lehigh Valley Allentown area. The Company believes it can accrue the benefits of an existing, talented and experienced staff having market and applications expertise in many key industries such as construction chemicals, coatings, adhesives, paints, plasters and non-woven textiles.

“The decision to locate WACKER POLYMERS AMERICA Headquarters in the Lehigh Valley Allentown, PA area was aided through a joint collaboration and cooperation between state and local governments, business and industry,” said Mr. Arno von der Eltz, WACKER POLYMERS Global President. “We are extremely pleased to become a member of the Lehigh Valley Allentown community, and ideally to be able to continue the strong business and economic relationships already established here through our former joint venture with Air Products and Chemicals.”

The new single-story facility (fig.1), according to Mr. John Tacca, Vice President, Polymers Division USA is being built in the Lehigh Valley Allentown area on a site in Upper Macungie Township, at the intersection of Snowdrift and Tilghman Streets. “The 67,000 square foot facility is being designed to house both research and development and applications testing laboratories, with about two-thirds of the space being devoted primarily to product, application and market development,” Tacca said, “with the remaining one-third of the space assigned to sales and marketing and business support functions. The Company expects us to occupy the facility sometime late in the summer of 2009.”

Mr. Tacca pointed out that WACKER POLYMERS is one of five operating divisions of Wacker Chemie AG and is part of Wacker Chemical Corporation (WCC) Adrian MI, its North American headquarters operation. “WCC has a total of seven locations throughout North America with a sales office in Mexico City,” Tacca explained. “The Adrian site is comprised of a main manufacturing plant, R&D and applications testing labs, technical service, distribution center, administrative, sales and marketing offices for WACKER SILICONES, WACKER FINE CHEMICALS, WACKER POLYMERS, L.P. and Planar Solutions LLC, a joint venture with Fuji Chemicals.”
