Wacker Chemie AG announced February 26, 2009 the purchase of property in Bradley County, in the State of Tennessee. This is a preparatory step for the Company’s mid-term plans to construct a new integrated hyperpure polycrystalline silicon manufacturing facility in the United States. WACKER expects a mid-term investment of about $1 billion to set up the new plant. The announcement is an important step in the Company’s global strategy to be close to its customers and markets served.
