CHINAPLAS 2011: WACKER Presents Innovative High-Performance Silicone Rubbers

Shanghai, April 19, 2011 – As a leading supplier of complete silicone-based solutions, WACKER will showcase high-performance silicone rubbers for high-tech and medical applications at Chinaplas 2011 from May 17 to 20 in Guangzhou. The highlights from WACKER include new solid silicone rubber grades for applications with high fire-safety requirements, and new self-adhesive HCR silicone rubbers for hard-soft combinations.
At the trade show, WACKER will present new solid silicone rubber grades that meet the highest fire safety standards. Sold under the name ELASTOSIL® R 770, these products cure to self-extinguishing and flame-resistant elastomers. When they burn, they generate little smoke and emit no toxic fumes. These properties render the ELASTOSIL® R 770 series ideal for the production of flexible molded articles, profiles, panels, film and fabric-reinforced silicone strips for use in railway cars, underground and suburban trains, planes, ships and buses. Typical applications include door, finger-guard and wall profiles for high-speed trains, bellows for connecting carriages in trains and articulated buses, and fire-proof, acoustic insulation mats for planes, trains and ships.
The new solid silicone grades meet French railway standard NFF 16-101, which is stricter than the German fire safety standard for rail vehicles (DIN 5510), with every member of the series being placed in the highest category. Moreover, studies carried out at WACKER in accordance with American standard UL 94 showed that these new grades qualify for V-0 classification. Thus, they are also suitable for applications outside the transport sector.
New Silicone Rubbers for Cost-Effective Coextrusion
WACKER will be introducing new self-adhesive high consistency silicone rubber grades (HCR) for the cost-effective coextrusion or molding of hard-soft material combinations. The silicone products bond to different metal and plastic substrates without the need to pretreat the substrate surface. ELASTOSIL® R plus 4370 self-adhesive extrusion grades allow the one-step production of hard-soft profiles. ELASTOSIL® R plus 4070/60 molding grade can significantly increase productivity of multicomponent parts in small to medium production runs.
Other Highlights from WACKER At CHINAPLAS 2011
  • Under ELASTOSIL®, one of WACKER's best established brands, ELASTOSIL® LR represents high-quality liquid silicone rubbers with extremely diverse properties. ELASTOSIL® LR are two-part silicone rubber grades (50:50), which can be used in a fully automatical injection molding process without secondary processing. They are generally platinum cured and vulcanized under heat and pressure and are therefore ideal for manufacturing parts in large volumes, achieving low unit costs. Self-adhesive liquid silicone rubber grades bond to many plastics and metals without a primer or an adhesive. They are particularly advantageous, since they can be used for parts combining multiple functions, such as hard-soft combinations or membrane components.
  • WACKER will also present silicone rubber grades called CENUSIL® R 140 – 180. CENUSIL® R is a general purpose rubber with good flexibility, effective rebound resilience, low compression set and high elasticity properties. Vulcanizates made from these compounds exhibit a unique combination of characteristics. The compounds are easily pigmented with ELASTOSIL® PT pigment pastes and have good processing characteristics. The various grades can be blended in any proportion to achieve intermediate hardnesses.
  • SILPURAN® is another WACKER highlight at CHINAPLAS 2011. As the trade name implies, these silicone rubber products feature ultra-high purity. WACKER uses only carefully tested raw materials and ensures that these silicone grades reach customers in absolutely pure and clean condition. SILPURAN® silicone grades do not contain organic plasticizers. They withstand radiation and are simple to sterilize, e.g. with hot steam (autoclave). Their special property profile complies with medical-sector specifications and safety requirements. All SILPURAN® products already comply with selected ISO 10993 tests and USP Class VI.
  • WACKER also presents GENIOPLAST® PELLET S, a pelletized silicone gum formulation with an outstanding high loading of ultrahigh molecular weight (uhmw) siloxane polymer. GENIOPLAST® PELLET S does not contain any thermoplastic resin as a carrier, but some quantity of fumed silica instead. Fumed silica as a constituent of the pelletized formulation does not show any adverse effect in the application and provides general compatibility with thermoplastic resins when used as an additive in thermoplastic systems to impart benefits such as processing improvements and modification of surface characteristics.

WACKER Showcases High-Performance Products at CHINA COMPOSITES

Shanghai, August 20, 2010 – Under the motto “No limits with composites expertise”, WACKER is presenting high-performance products at the 16th China International Compos-ites Industrial Technical Expo (CHINA COMPOSITES) in Beijing from September 15 to 17. The products to be showcased at the trade show are pyrogenic silica for flow controlling and polyvinyl acetate solid resins for zero shrink effect.
Marketed under the trademark HDK®, pyrogenic silicas from WACKER are recognized as the specialist for perfect flow. They are ideal for thickening and controlling flow behavior during the manufac-ture of composites by hand lay-up. HDK® pyrogenic silicas are able to precisely adjust the thixotropic properties of gel coats and laminating resins, and make it easy to process gel coats with no sag tendency. They offer stable viscosity of the end products and prevent separation effects and sedimentation of pigments and fillers.
The plain white powder is a highly efficient formulation additive with a wide variety of applications. For instance, HDK® serves as a rheology additive in liquid systems and resins, such as adhesives, sealants, plastisols, coatings and composite raw materials. With its highly de-veloped product range, WACKER is among the world’s technological and market leaders in this field.
VINNAPAS® solid resins
As a low profile additive for class A surfaces, VINNAPAS® polyvinyl acetate solid resins are another highlight from WACKER at the trade show. VINNAPAS® solid resins make for perfect surfaces without shrinkage – consistently and reliably. Unless a low-profile additive is used in the manufacture of composite parts based on unsaturated polyester, shrinkage of 6-10 % will occur. The addition of VINNAPAS® solid resins minimizes this shrinkage to less than 0.05 %, resulting in extremely smooth, homogeneous surfaces.
Thanks to their excellent properties, composites based on unsatu-rated polyester resins play a key role in the manufacture of heavily stressed parts. Efficient additives are required to give these systems a metal-like surface quality. As additives, VINNAPAS® solid resins of the B, C and UW ranges significantly increase surface smoothness and reduce distortion and tension in polyester-resin components. Due to their excellent shrinkage compensation in fiber reinforced plastics (FRP) composites and full viscosity control, VINNAPAS® solid resins are used in numerous FRP composites.

EXPO2010 Hamburg House

World EXPO 2010: WACKER Supports Sustainable Construction of Hamburg House

Shanghai, March 19, 2010 – The Munich-based WACKER Group, a technology leader of silicon chemistry and ethylene-based polymers, announced that it will sponsor sustainable construction for the Hamburg House, an official building project of the German city of Hamburg at the World Expo 2010 in Shanghai, China. The building is a reference for the development and realisation of sustainable, energy-saving construction in Shanghai city. The solutions provided by WACKER include protective silane concrete treatment, silicone sealants and dispersible powders for high-performance dry-mix mortars used in tile adhesives and tile grout mortars. These and other construction materials will contribute to the building’s high energy-efficiency standard and will help to make it the first certified “passive house” in China.
WACKER strongly identifies with the concept of Hamburg House and has supported its energy saving goals with a number of sustainable products. For instance, all the interior walls and roofs of the Hamburg House have been effectively protected by WACKER SILRES® BS Creme C, a high-quality specialty product for concrete protection. SILRES BS® Creme C is designed to penetrate deeply into concrete so as to afford optimum and long lasting protection against corrosion and weathering, absorption of water and pollutants as well as freeze-thaw cycles..
For sealing purposes, WACKER silicone sealants have also been widely used in the Hamburg House. Silicone sealants are not only resistant to water, water vapor and other substances, but must also withstand different loads. Desired properties include particularly high chemical and aging resistance and resistance to wear and attack by micro-organisms. They also provide efficient insulation which helps to save energy and thus reduces carbon dioxide emissions.
WACKER also provides polymer-modified dry-mix mortars to the Hamburg House. Every single mosaic used in bathrooms and in kitchens has been laid with tile adhesives and tile grout mortar containing WACKER VINNAPAS® dispersible powders. These powders improve the adhesion and substantially increase deformability and abrasion resistance. They also help to reduce material consumption during application and decrease the pollution caused by cement production. Moreover, grouts modified with VINNAPAS® are water-repellent. As a result, they reduce water absorption and reliably protect against soiling, discoloration and efflorescence so as to prolong lifetime of the materials used in Hamburg House.
Background Information
The Hamburg House, located at the Urban Best Practices Area (UBPA) of the Shanghai 2010 World Expo, represents a role model project for extensive environment protection in the urban development of growing megacities. The 2300 square meter building is characterized by a unique passive house design with a primary energy requirement of less than 50 kWh per square meter and heating requirements of less than 15 kWh per square meter per year. To achieve this, the building must maintain a constant indoor temperature of 25°C all year long without consuming any electricity from the National Electricity Grid, and without the use of air-conditioners or heaters. This has been successfully achieved by means of highly energy-efficient construction materials as well as by using regenerative energies and advanced energy technology.
The Hamburg House will set new standards for implementing the passive house concept in China. It is the only solid building project of a German city at Expo 2010.

WACKER Presents Innovative Silicone Sealants for Construction Applications

Shanghai, March 06, 2009 – ALUMINUM WINDOOR & CURTAIN-WALL EXPO 2009 will see the launch of WACKER’s new alkoxy silicone sealants for construction applications. The ALUMINUM WINDOOR & CURTAIN WALL EXPO 2009 takes place from March 18-20, 2009 in Guangzhou, China.
Marketed under the ELASTOSIL® trade name, WACKER’s new alkoxy silicone sealants ELASTOSIL® 7000 N, 8000 N, 9000 N and EL9500 N have a property profile geared to construction–sector needs. Typical features are a low modulus and good stability. The new sealants are also none corrosive to metal. The improved curing process of the sealant enhances the end properties and reduces the diffusion of volatile compounds which isenvironment friendly as well.
Joints that are under severe strain particularly benefit from those products. Material trials show that the test samples can permanently withstand elongation of well over 100% of the initial joint width without any crack formation. This property is important for large outdoor structural elements, since they are often exposed to considerable temperature fluctuations. It is also significant for indoor applications, as joint dimensions can continue to change after the construction job has been completed.
Another highlight at ALUMINUM WINDOOR & CURTAIN-WALL EXPO is the acetoxy high modulus ELASTOSIL® 131. High-quality, flexible sealants based on WACKER’s groundbreaking technology featureboth well-known silicone properties such as UV and weathering resistance, good stability and excellent mechanical property as well as short curing times. They are also non–bubbling and tacky-free.
WACKER will also present it’s Construction-sealant (CS) Series at the exhibition. These products possess good weatherproofing properties, are non-corrosive to metal and suitable for alkaline substrates. Primers are unnecessary in most applications, as the construction sealants adhere firmly to metals, plastics, wood and other materials. Typical applications include the sealing of connecting and expansion joints and of coated aluminum in the construction industry.

Personal Care and Homecare Ingredients 2009: WACKER Presents Novel Silicone Products for Personal and Household Care Applications

Shanghai, February 16, 2009 –At the Personal Care and Homecare Ingredients (PCHi) 2009 trade show in Guangzhou from February 24 to 26, 2009, WACKER, a Germany-based chemical corporation, will be appearing under the slogan “WACKER SILICONES from Europe, be fascinated.” The focus will be on novel silicone products in the field of personal and household care, such as innovative aminofunctional silicone emulsions for shampoos and conditioners to repair and to take care of damaged hair, a new hybrid polymer for hair spray formulations, novel antifoam agents for household detergents, and multi-functional silicone softeners for fabric conditioners.
The new Wacker-Belsil® ADM 6068, which will be presented at PCHi 2009, not only rebuilds a hydrophobic layer on the hair making the hair smooth and shining, but also improves softness and reduces combing forces, since it contains a reactive high-viscose amino-functional dimethylsiloxane. It is ideally suited for repairing and taking care of damaged hair. Wacker-Belsil® ADM 6068 is therefore used for the conditioning of hair fibers in several hair care applications such as shampoos, conditioners, hair masks and styling products.
Wacker-Belsil® P 101: Two Features in One
Another innovation to be unveiled at PCHi is Wacker-Belsil® P 101. It combines the positive properties of silicones with those of organic polymers that have proven effective in hairstyling products. Apart from a very firm hold, it also lends hair a pleasant, soft and natural feel.
Because of the silicone block in the structure of Wacker-Belsil® P101, hair sprays modified with the new hybrid polymer absorb only a very small amount of water and are thus only softened slightly in humid air. The hold imparted by the polymer is thus effectively retained, even under high humidity conditions.
SILFOAM® : Effective Foam Control Systems
Another highlight at this year’s PCHi is SILFOAM® antifoam agent for household applications in laundry detergents and fabric conditioners. Apart from its high efficiency foam control, SILFOAM® also improves the alkaline resistance and compatibility and thus ensures excellent defoaming effects and a homogeneous distribution for any type of detergent. In addition, the SILFOAM® silicone antifoam series is particularly suitable for other household cleaning products ranging from universal cleaners to special applications such as glass or carpet cleaners
Silicone Softeners Incorporate a Multitude of Functions
WACKER will also present new silicone softeners, which impart more advantages to fabric conditioners. One example is Wacker® FC 212, which is an amino-functional silicone emulsion which provides a unique combination of properties like excellent softening, hydrophilicity and easy ironing when combined with esterquat based softeners.
In the summit held on February 24 during the PCHi trade show, WACKER will give a speech on the topic “Wacker-Belsil® ADM – Perfect Hair Conditioning Agent” and “Foam Control System in the Detergent Industry”.

WACKER Presents High-Performance Additives for the Chinese Adhesive and Sealant Industry at CHINA ADHESIVE 2008

Shanghai, December 1, 2008 – Under the “Innovation for a better life” motto, WACKER is presenting high-performance additives at the 11th China International Adhesives and Sealants Exhibition (CHINA ADHESIVE) in Shanghai, China from December 3-5. The focus is on two product classes: pyrogenic silica to control rheology and reinforce adhesives and sealants, as well as a broad range of vinyl-acetate-based polymers. The polymers serve as binders in applications such as PVC and parquet-floor adhesives.
WACKER is one of the world’s leading producers of pyrogenic silica. Sold under the HDK® trademark, these products are highly efficient formulation additives. They are available in a wide range of hydrophilic and hydrophobic grades; an aqueous HDK® dispersion is also offered. Used by diverse industrial sectors, pyrogenic silica products are found in numerous applications. HDK® serves as a rheology additive in liquid systems and resins, such as adhesives, sealants, plastisols, coatings and composite raw materials. In the formulation of modern coatings, HDK® enables the selective control of flow and layer thickness. In clear coats, the additive ensures high transparency.
Moreover, WACKER’s pyrogenic silica improves storage stability by effectively preventing pigment and filler sedimentation. The pronounced thixotropic performance of adhesives formulated with HDK® facilitates problem-free processing. It ensures optimum viscosity, both during and after application. HDK® imparts sealants and coatings with an optimum processing profile, as well as non-slump properties and a defined yield point.
Another field of application is flow control for powders. Pyrogenic silica is added in order to fine-tune the flow properties of catalysts, curing agents, pigments and other powders. Moreover, HDK® serves as an antiblocking additive in the manufacture of polymer granules, pellets, flakes and extruded films. It readily adsorbs liquid additives, making them available as free-flowing powders.
As one of the few active fillers, HDK® also serves to reinforce sealants, adhesives, coatings and composite parts. In doing so, it significantly enhances the mechanical properties of not only silicone elastomers, but also other sealants and rubbers. Elastomers reinforced with WACKER pyrogenic silica exhibit enhanced tensile and fatigue strength, greater elasticity and crystal-clear transparency.

WACKER Presents High-Performance Products at CHINA COMPOSITES

Shanghai, August 29, 2008 – Under the motto “No limits with composites expertise”, WACKER is presenting high-performance products at the 14th China International Composites Industrial Technical Expo (CHINA COMPOSITES) in Shanghai from September 17 to19. The products on display are ranging from pyrogenic silica for rheology controlling to solid resins for coatings and adhesives applications and innovative silicone rubber compounds that simplify the production of vacuum bags for large molded parts.
At this year’s tradeshow, WACKER will highlight a range of high-tech silicone and polymer products: Pyrogenic silicas, marketed under the trademark HDK®, are ideal for thickening, controlling powder flow and reinforcing composites or adhesives. As a rheological additive with a thixotropic effect, HDK® pyrogenic silicas precisely adjust the flow behavior of resin formulations, particularly for hand lay up and spray techniques. They prevent the resin from seeping out of the fiber material. At the same time, good fiber wetting and impregnation are retained. HDK® also prevents sedimentation of pigments and fillers.
WACKER is one of the top three pyrogenic silica manufacturers in the world with over 15 years successful development in the Chinese market. Currently, WACKER is investing in a world-class production facility for pyrogenic silica in Zhangjiagang, China, which is scheduled to start operations in late 2008 .
VINNAPASP® olid resins
VINNAPAS® (polyvinyl acetate) resins are used as low profile additives in fiber reinforced plastics (FRP) composites. The great versatility of VINNAPAS® low profile additive resins has led to many FRP applications, successfully combining zero shrink, Class A surface quality, full viscosity control and design flexibility.
VINNAPAS® is a most effective thermoplastic anti-shrink (low profile) additive in UP resin composites processed at high molding temperatures. In addition to the zero shrink effect, certain high-temperature unsaturated polyester applications, such as sheet molding compound (SMC) and bulk molding compound (BMC), require effective thickening for easy handling of the composite and for good glass-fiber distribution during mold flow.
With over 50 years experience, WACKER is the leading manufacturer of vinyl-acetate-based polymers worldwide.
ELASTOSIL® C 1200
At CHINA COMPOSITES, WACKER will also present ELASTOSIL® C 1200, an innovative silicone rubber compound for manufacturing large molded parts.. This two-part platinum-curing silicone rubber features low viscosity and cures at room temperature without shrinking, thus opening up numerous new possibilities for composite manufacturing. Molded parts of almost any conceivable dimensions can be conveniently produced in series using the new ELASTOSIL® C 1200. This is made possible by the greatly extended pot life of around 20 minutes and a special shear-thinning silicone elastomer formulation. This property causes the normally stiff composition to liquefy under the shearing effect of brushing or spraying. As a result, ELASTOSIL® C 1200 can be applied to vertical surfaces without dripping.
ELASTOSIL® C 1200 now makes possible the production of custom-made vacuum bags, usable, for example, in boat building, racing cars and wind power generators. The efficiency of this process allows significant costs savings to be made.
With the newly expanded Technical Center in Shanghai, WACKER is able to provide premium technical support to the composite industry.

The new product also exhibits self-cleaning properties, good breathability and excellent compatibility with EIFS materials, making it ideal not only in new buildings but also for renovating existing structures.
This new non-efflorescent decorative mortar boosts EIFS quality and has already been successfully applied in several projects. With increased adaptation of EIFS and a rising number of companies active in the EIFS sector, the industry’s attention has turned to EIFS quality. As a market and technology leader and key supplier of EIFS adhesive materials, WACKER continually introduces new, innovative solutions to enhance EIFS quality.
At the tradeshow, WACKER will highlight a self-leveling compound system in which VINNAPAS® polymer powders help create smooth surfaces, reduce foaming and hinder sedimentation. Furthermore, they feature a long open time and excellent adhesive strength.
WACKER’s experts will also present these products and their applications at the show’s forum.
In addition to innovative quality-enhancing solutions, WACKER furnishes its technical expertise at many levels and thus actively promotes quality awareness. Under the auspices of the German Chamber of Commerce in Beijing, the ETICS (External Thermal Insulation Composite Systems) Quality Alliance was set up last November by WACKER and other European companies. The aim is to increase the end market’s awareness of and sensitivity to quality, so as to ensure and improve EIFS effectiveness.
WACKER also collaborates closely with governments, associations, standards organizations and quality inspection departments to develop internationally accepted quality standards for energy-saving construction. WACKER’s VINNAPAS® ACADEMY in Beijing will launch a new marketing seminar in May. “This program deals with the 4P elements and marketing strategies of dry-mixed mortars,” says Zhang Huaizhu, China Business Development director of WACKER’s Construction Polymers business unit. “We aim to significantly boost overall quality awareness among industry players, and thus advance the sustainable and healthy development of China’s construction industry.”
In close collaboration with customers, WACKER’s technical centers focus on factors such as climatic conditions, local raw materials, region-specific applications and locally applicable standards. Internationally recognized WACKER products have been successfully applied, for instance, in underground car parks and flooring for a wide variety of Chinese public buildings – and particularly to construct Beijing’s Olympic venues and auxiliary facilities, such as the National Indoor Stadium, National Conference Center, Olympic Park Underground Commercial Project, and Beijing Airport’s new Terminal 3.
In China, WACKER POLYMERS has been promoting modern, low-environmental-impact building materials for more than 10 years. Recent rapid growth is due to China’s increasing demand for energy-saving materials. WACKER has two technical centers there – in Shanghai and Beijing – and is investing €50 million to construct a new dispersible polymer powder spray dryer in Nanjing with an annual capacity of 30,000 metric tons. Scheduled to start operations in late 2008, the new plant’s world-class production capacity will enable WACKER to meet China’s increasing construction-sector demand for high-quality polymeric binders .

VINNAPAS® Dispersible Polymer Powders and Dispersions

VINNAPAS® dispersible polymer powders and dispersions are thermoplastic, plasticizer-free polymers derived primarily from vinyl acetate and ethylene. In 1957, WACKER chemists first succeeded in industrially manufacturing the first powder binder as an additive for dry-mix mortars. That same year, the first spray dryer for dispersible polymer powders started operating. Today, WACKER POLYMERS is a global market and technology leader in the field of vinyl acetate-based copolymers and terpolymers – marketed worldwide under the VINNAPAS® trademark.
VINNAPAS® polymer powders and dispersions are used in diverse building applications such as exterior insulation and finish systems, construction and tile adhesives, screeds, self-leveling flooring compounds, plasters, repair mortars, grouts and cementitious sealing slurries. They enhance important end-product properties, such as adhesion, cohesion, flexibility and flexural strength. Water retention, processing properties and weatherability benefit from VINNAPAS®, too.

Personal Care and Homecare Ingredients (PCHi): WACKER Showcases New Solutions and Products for China Personal Care and Household Care Industry

Shanghai, March 10, 2008 – With the motto of ‘Surprise Your Senses’, Germany-based chemical corporation WACKER will showcase innovative solutions and products for the cosmetics industry at PCHi to be held from March 17 to 19 in Shanghai, China. Highlights will include a novel hybrid polymer for hair styling products, aminofunctional silicone emulsions for shampoos and conditioners for repair and care of damaged hair, pyrogenic silica for conditioners and treatment, antifoam agents for laundry detergents and conditioners and silicone softeners for fabric conditioners.
When choosing a hair spray, consumers are often guided by the degree of hold the product offers. However, surveys and market studies show that most respondents consider a pleasant touch to be just as important as good hold. These contradictory goals present formulators with a challenge: a hair spray that gives a very firm hold has poor tactile properties – the hair feels unnaturally stiff, hard, inflexible and rough. Conversely, if a hair spray is to impart a pleasant, soft and natural feel, the hold will inevitably be reduced.
WACKER’s newly developed hybrid polymer Wacker-Belsil® P 101 makes a big difference here. It lends hair a firm hold – without impairing the soft feel. The new product mainly consists of two building blocks: inorganic silicone on the one hand and organic vinyl acetate on the other. Lab studies and panel testing show that Wacker-Belsil®P 101 combines the positive properties of silicones with those of organic polymers that have proven effective in hairstyling products. Styling products containing this copolymer will provide not only good hold, but also a natural and soft feeling of hair.
In the summit held on March 18th during the PCHi trade show, WACKER will give a speech on this topic (Wacker-Belsil® P101- Creative Hybrid Polymer for Hair Styling - Perfect Combination of Feeling and Styling).
Aminofunctional Silicone Emulsions for Hair Care Products
Continuous coloring and perming increases the risk of hair damage considerably. Wacker-Belsil® ADM 6060 is a good choice to repair damaged hair and to improve its smoothness. The product is a new generation of macroemulsion which contains a reactive high-viscose amino-functional dimethylsiloxane. Due to its structure, it can rebuild a hydrophobic layer on the hair making the hair smooth and shine. It also improves softness and reduces combing forces. Wacker-Belsil® ADM 6060 is therefore used for the conditioning of hair fibers in several hair care applications such as of shampoos, conditioners, hair masks and styling products. The new product is especially suitable for products for repair and care of damage hair.

Pyrogenic Silica: Good Performance for Hair Conditioners

In most consumers’ minds an ideal hair conditioner should have a high viscosity as well as an even appearance in order to allow easy spread and application. Formulating these features with traditional cosmetic components such as high molecular-weight organic ingredients proves very difficult.
At PCHi, WACKER will showcase pyrogenic silicas (trademark: HDK®) which offer a solution. HDK® not only builds up the viscosity effectively and significantly improves the thixotropy of hair conditioners. It also improves the final appearance. Comparisons with traditional viscosity-building ingredients show that HDK® – even in very low dosages – enhances hair smoothness during both washing and drying significantly. In addition to hair care applications, HDK® is used in skin care color cosmetics and in deodorants as a thicking agent.

Silicone Softeners: Make Multi-Functional Fabric Softeners Come True

Nowadays, consumers are not satisfied with the simple function of fabric conditioner. They seek for more characteristics such as bulkiness feeling, softness and smoothness, easy ironing, fast drying etc. This is just what WACKER’s silicone softeners can offer. In addition, innovative silicone softeners impart more advantages to fabric conditioners in the competitive market. For example, self-crosslinking aminosilicone emulsion Wacker® FC 201 can improve both anti-wrinkle and wrinkle recovery properties. Another example is Wacker® FC 202. It is an amino-functionalized silicone fluid with a polyether group, which solves the conflict between rewetting and softness raised by traditional silicone softeners.

SILFOAM® Silicone Foam Control Systems for Laundry Detergents and Fabric Conditioners

With the popularity of front loader washing machines, modern laundry detergents and conditioners require higher efficiency with outstanding foam control. An ideal antifoam agent is the key to achieve tailored laundry products, such as different foam levels in the washing procedure.
As a leading manufacturer of foam control systems, WACKER develops SILFOAM® silicone-based antifoam agents for household applications. Besides high efficiency foam control, SILFOAM® improves the alkaline resistance and compatibility, which ensure excellent defoaming effects and a homogeneous distribution for any type of detergent. In addition, the SILFOAM® silicone antifoam series also suits other household cleaning products, ranging from universal cleaners to special applications such as glass cleaners or carpet cleaners.

“Our three principles of equality, sincerity and potential-focusing start from the initial interview and continue to be applied in the daily work of our employees. WACKER values a candidate’s potential to develop within the company, and not just their past experience,” said Rebecca Liu, Human Resources Director Greater China. “Once someone joins our company, we create many opportunities for continued growth and learning. Our top-level support for developing our employees’ future is a key reason we were recognized as one of China’s top employers.”
WACKER Greater China’s innovative HR program facilitates many different methods to support the management team’s commitment to developing our employees. The active training and people development plans, recruitment programs, diversified employee activities and multi-channel, two-way employee communication are just a few ways WACKER enhances our employee competencies and creates a constructive working environment. As an initiative to promote employee development and involve our dedicated management team, WACKER created the Mentor Program. The Mentor Program has successfully built up the dialogue opportunity between employee and senior managers and helped employees advance quickly which contributes to WACKER’s people development system.
Being an responsible employer, WACKER open door policies, interactive employee communication meetings, newsletter and other various communication channels, integration activities emphasize our management team’s commitment to building a well integrated team and a corporate culture of open, trust and respect.
Being a responsible employer, WACKER is committed to support employee development, also contribute social responsibility.
With the company’s support, “WACKER HELP” – an initiative proposed by an employee – was established in early 2005. This charity committee promotes education in underprivileged areas and engages in other social activities. The foundation, now internally managed, has received significant support from both WACKER Greater China’s employees and the company.
