After the toner has been applied from the photoconductive drum, the paper passes through the fuser unit, which comprises two heated rollers coated with silicone rubber. The preferred release agents for the fusing process are WACKER AKF silicone fluids because they prevent transfer of toner to the rollers and additionally extend the service life of the usually expensive fuser rollers.
Various fluids are used:
- Methylsilicone fluids of high purity and extremely low VOC content
- Organic, modified aminosilicone fluids
- Mercapto-silicone fluids
