As a result, we are not only able to efficiently prepare our customers’ production strains in our laboratories during the development phase of GMP-compliant production, but also, optionally, to make selective genetic and physiological modifications to the culture to optimize its expression efficiency.
ESETEC® E. coli Secretion technology
Our ESETEC® expression and secretion system, which is based on E. coli K12, consists of a series of high-expression plasmids and a production strain that can transfer proteins in native conformation across the outer cell membrane into the culture medium. The E. coli strain is extremely stable during fermentation and is routinely employed in commercial-scale production using fermenters with capacities of up to 4 m3.
By combining plasmids and the special production strain, the subsequent production and purification processes can be streamlined from the earliest phases of development, which ensures a cost-effective system in advance.
