WACKER silicone rubbers can be used at 180 °C for very long periods. Their high tear resistance ensures that the cable sheathes are not damaged during repair or if abraded against edges – for example between wagons or in the engines of locomotives. Silicone rubber's high UV stability provides exposed cables with excellent versatility in terms of color and design. The silicone rubber's high mechanical strength also allows it to be installed with narrow bending radii. Trains, subways and the associated tunnel systems use both flame-resistant and ceramifying silicones because they do not release toxic decomposition products in the event of a fire.
