WACKER silicone rubbers can be used at 180 °C for very long periods. Their high tear resistance ensures that the cable sheathes are not damaged during repair or if abraded against edges in the engine or generator rooms. The silicone rubber's high mechanical strength also allows it to be installed with narrow bending radii. Ships and oil platforms can be provided with a high degree of safety by using flame resistant, ceramifying silicones – they do not release toxic decomposition products in the event of a fire.
