Various silicone rubbers are used to manufacture instrumentation and control cables, depending on the requirements: high-tensile-strength grades offer especially high notch or abrasion resistance. Oil resistant silicone rubbers permit the manufacture of cables with extremely high chemical resistance. Special grades even permit service temperatures up to 300 °C. Ceramifying silicone rubber grades are used to allow one-off measurements up to well over 1,000 °C for example in thermocouples.
