Unwanted foaming interferes with the products’ ability to do their job. The remedy is to use SILFOAM® antifoam agents. Since cleaning products are normally mixed with water, hydrophilic defoamer formulations are a key focus of our portfolio.

Carpet Cleaners
In order for carpet cleaning products to work properly when used with shampooers, the reservoirs for holding the dirty water need a supply of defoamer. Its purpose is to destroy foam as the dirty water is being sucked up.
Floor Polishes
For optimal leveling and good deaeration in floor polishes – especially those based on wax – it’s best to use silicone antifoam emulsions and silicone antifoam dispersions. They dry to yield a bubble-free, smooth film.
Glass Cleaners
In glass cleaners, foaming is controlled with hydrophilic, polar SILFOAM® antifoams.
Sanitary/Disinfectant Cleaners
In the case of sanitary cleaners, foaming is mostly a nuisance when they are being filled into containers. Silicone antifoam emulsions are the products of choice for a variety of dedicated sanitary-cleaner formulations. Disinfectant cleaners exhibit very poor compatibility with quaternary ammonium compounds (quats). SILFOAM® is an effective way of solving this problem.
