Mineral finishing plasters generally consist of mineral binders, such as lime and cement, fillers, pigments, and additives such as cellulose ether and starch ether, as well as organic polymeric binders – chiefly VINNAPAS ^® dispersible powders. In dispersion-based plasters, the VINNAPAS^® dispersion takes on the role of the polymeric binder, improving the property profile of the plaster.

In silicone resin plasters and organosilicate plasters, SILRES^® BS silicone resins and water-repellent additives from WACKER contribute to the protection and preservation of valuable building stock. The silicone resin network renders the capillaries hydrophobic: water runs off in beads, but the pores remain open to vapor diffusion.

VINNAPAS^® and SILRES^® bestow additional benefits on all kinds of plaster systems: they reduce capillary water uptake without affecting the water-vapor permeability, improve abrasion resistance, increase flexibility (through lower elastic modulus), ease of processing, relaxation properties, flexural and tensile strength, and improve adhesion – even to difficult substrates.

There is also the option of adding a CAVAMAX^®/CAVASOL^® fragrance complex to your water-based plasters. A cyclodextrin (CAVAMAX^®/CAVASOL^®) encapsulates an essential oil and protects it from evaporation and oxidation. The fragrance is then released from this molecular inclusion complex under the action of moisture – and your plaster boasts an additional feature.
