Breathable Facade Protection with Water Repellency
One highly effective way to prevent damage is to treat the facade with SILRES® BS water repellent agents. The hydrophobic coating protects exposed facades from absorbing moisture and the damage it could trigger. Since the hydrophobic treatment leaves the pores open, the building material retains its ability to breathe while water-vapor permeability is only slightly affected, if at all.
Water repellants reduce the amount of water absorbed by all kinds of building materials. The level of protection and the beading effect can be chosen to suit requirements. Surfaces amenable to water-repellent treatment include unrendered masonry made of natural stone, limestone, brickwork, aerated concrete or sand-lime brick, as well as facades finished with mineral plasters and paints.
