DAMP-PROOF COURSE STOPS RISING DAMP
Moisture levels are often very high in the walls of buildings constructed without a horizontal damp-proof course, such as those predating 1900, or of buildings whose damp course has failed. Capillary rising damp is commonly one of the culprits, and damages the masonry by stealth.

Injecting Silicone for Dryer Walls

Chemical injection is an established way of protecting against capillary rising damp in a wall. The silicone is injected through holes drilled in the masonry, where it spreads out across the wall and builds up a horizontal barrier. It stops the capillary rising damp and entrained harmful substances and allows the masonry to dry out. A large number of products for chemical injection are available to suit various requirements. Particularly popular are aqueous compounds, such as the WACKER SILRES® BS series of silicone microemulsions.
