Printing inks are composed of binders, solvents, additives, and colorants, such as pigments and dyes. The binders have two tasks to perform: first, they must wet and envelop the colorant, and transfer it via the inking unit and the printing plate to the substrate; second, they must also fix the pigments on the substrate and produce a durable print.
