Coil coating is a continuous process in which specialty coatings are applied to steel or aluminum coil. These coatings are so versatile that they are the products of choice for applications in industry, construction, household appliances and transportation.
The appearance of coatings can be destroyed by permanent exposure to aggressive climatic effects, such as acid rain or intense UV radiation. Enhancing organic binders with SILRES® intermediates is an effective remedy. This greatly extends their durability and improves their chalking behavior, gloss and color fastness. Coils treated with such coatings are weatherable and heat-resistant, have a greatly extended service life, and the end products retain their value for longer.
HDK® is added to control the rheology and improve the antisettling properties. It also imparts good leveling properties to the coil coatings, resulting in uniform coating thickness.
