Mineral finishing plasters generally consist of mineral binders, such as lime and cement, fillers, pigments, and additives such as cellulose ether and starch ether, as well as organic polymeric binders. In dispersion-based plasters, the VINNAPAS® dispersion takes on the role of the polymeric binder, improving the property profile of the plaster.
In silicone resin plasters and organosilicate plasters, SILRES® BS silicone resin binders and water-repellent additives make valuable building blocks for protecting and preserving buildings. The functional silicone resin network renders the capillaries water-repellent: water forms beads and rolls off, but the pores remain open to diffusion.
Additional benefits accrue to the various plaster systems from the use of VINNAPAS® and SILRES®: they reduce capillary water uptake without affecting the water-vapor permeability, improve abrasion resistance, optimize ease of processing, flexibility (lower elastic modulus), relaxation properties, flexural and tensile strength and improve adhesion – even to difficult substrates.
