WACKER CEO Dr. Rudolf Staudigl symbolically commissioned the simulation facility.
WACKER experts and Burghausen Vocational Training Center (BBiW) specialists have developed an innovative system for process management simulation. With it, BBiW trainees will be able to learn how to properly control and optimize plant processes under real-life conditions.
Because an off-the-shelf simulator was not available, BBiW and WACKER simulation specialists teamed up to develop the project themselves. The system precisely models the stages of an actual distillation process at a WACKER production facility.
“Burghausen’s processing plants are operated, monitored and controlled with the help of process-control systems, and the new simulation equipment can replicate such facilities exactly. Thus, we can prepare trainees even more effectively for real-life production jobs,” explained Erich Veigl, BBiW head of training in chemistry and physics.
In total, trainees have access to six individual simulation computers, as well as two process-control computers.
