WACKER received the “Best Innovator Award” in the “Chemical Industry” category. Management consultancy firm A.T. Kearney and the German business weekly “Wirtschaftswoche” honored WACKER, along with nine other award winners, for sustainable innovation management. “The Best Innovator Jury identified within the company systematic processes which show that WACKER has the ability to pursue innovation management as a core competence,” said Dr. Kai Engel, a partner at A.T. Kearney and the competition’s initiator. As an example, he cited the appointment of in-house technology managers. “WACKER specifically employs these innovation managers to keep a permanent eye on the entire supply chain and to continually refocus the Group’s innovation activities on megatrends and dynamic developments in individual technology and customer segments,” said Engel. “For us that was one of the main reasons for its coming top of the “Chemical Industry” category.” At the award ceremony, WACKER Executive Board member Dr. Wilhelm Sittenthaler stressed that the Group’s innovative strength has been the basis of its business success. “Chemistry has always been a sector whose innovations have helped other industries launch new and better products on the market,” said Sittenthaler. “In this role, we not only need highly qualified and motivated employees, but also efficient innovation management. Without it, we wouldn’t be able to detect trends in good time and design innovative, market-oriented products when they are needed.”
