The new appointment is related to the fact that Dr. Peter-Alexander Wacker, the current President & CEO, is leaving the Executive Board. At the Annual Shareholder Meeting on May 8, 2008, he will step down and stand as a candidate for the Supervisory Board that same day. His successor as President & CEO will be Dr. Rudolf Staudigl, who has been a member of the company’s Executive Board since 1995. Wacker Chemie AG announced this change at its helm in December 2007.

“With personnel changes to the Executive Board now complete,” explains President & CEO Peter-Alexander Wacker, “we have ensured the continuity of WACKER’s leadership for the years ahead.” Wilhelm Sittenthaler has held various managerial positions at WACKER over the last 28 years. Since May 1, 2003, he has been President & CEO of Siltronic AG, a fully-owned subsidiary of Wacker Chemie AG. In his new position on WACKER’s Executive Board, he will remain President & CEO of Siltronic.

Dr. Wilhelm Sittenthaler studied chemical engineering at Vienna University of Technology. After gaining his doctorate in technical sciences, he joined Wacker Chemie GmbH in 1980. He held a variety of positions and spent many years in Japan, where he was initially responsible for Regional Marketing & Sales. Later, he became head of the Chemicals division there. In 1996, he was appointed head of the Fluids, Resins and Silanes business unit at Burghausen in Germany. Four years later, in 2000, he was appointed to the Executive Board of Wacker Chemie GmbH. Since May 2003, he has been President & CEO of Siltronic AG, a fully-owned subsidiary of Wacker Chemie AG.
