In Melbourne today, the German chemical Group WACKER celebrated the 25th anniversary of its Australian subsidiary. The establishment of Melbourne-based Wacker Chemicals Australia Pty. Ltd. in 1980 marked a major milestone of the Group’s expansion in Asia-Pacific. Right now, WACKER has some 1,500 employees in this growth region, achieving annual sales of more than EUR 560 million (AUD 890 million). Thus, Asia-pacific accounts for over 22 percent of consolidated sales and is the Group’s second-largest market after Europe. A network of more than 20 sales offices, seven Technical Centers and seven production sites provides a high level of customer proximity throughout the region. In Australia, WACKER has annual sales of some EUR 20 million (AUD 32 million).
