The 16-km long Alz canal in Burghausen (Germany) was renovated and sealed using polymer-modified sealing slurries to prevent water leakage.

The new 300 millimeter silicon wafer plant of Siltronic Samsung Wafer in Singapore. After only 18 months of construction, Samsung Electronics, a leader in advanced semiconductor technology, and Siltronic, a subsidiary of Germany’s chemical group Wacker Chemie AG, now own one of the world’s largest and most advanced factories for 300 millimeter wafers. By 2010, the joint venture should reach a monthly capacity of 300,000 wafers and provide over 800 jobs. The overall investment in this project amounts to US$1 billion.

WACKER DYMATIC’s new plant in Zhangjiagang produces silicone emulsions and process auxiliaries for the Chinese textile, leather and fibre industries.

For 30 years, Jandira-based WACKER Brazil has been selling silicones und dispersible polymer powders to customers in South America. The 21,000 square-meter site is home to both the sales administration and regional logistics. Since 2005, it also houses a highly specialized technical center for construction, textiles and the pulp and paper industry.

Release-coating systems based on DEHESIVE^® 971 reduce the amount of platinum catalyst by up to 60% compared to conventional silicone systems. Due to its low release values, the new silicone polymer is particularly suitable for label-manufacturing applications.
