Joint Venture Dow Corning

Another joint venture to manufacture siloxane and pyrogenic silica was established by WACKER and Dow Corning Corp. at the Zhangjiagang site in China back in 2003. Siloxane and pyrogenic silica are key starting materials for the production of finished silicone products.
The second construction phase at the pyrogenic silica facility started in fall 2009. The new complex forms the core of an integrated production system at the Jiangsu Yangtze River Chemical Industrial Park. Approximately 1km2 in size, the site is China’s biggest facility of its kind and among the world’s largest and most advanced integrated production sites for silicones.
The siloxane and pyrogenic silica facilities’ combined annual production capacity is expected to be 210,000 metric tons. Total investment in the Zhangjiagang site by both companies will reach some US$1.2 billion.

Joint Venture Samsung

In June 2008, Siltronic Samsung Wafer Pte. Ltd. – a Siltronic and Samsung Electronics joint venture – commissioned a new 300 mm wafer fab in Singapore. The facility, which produces 300 mm silicon wafers and 300 mm silicon ingots, has meanwhile reached a capacity of around 200,000 wafers per month. It is the first of its kind in Singapore and is one of the world’s largest and most advanced 300 mm wafer fabs.
The joint venture at the Tampines Industrial Park is one of the five largest investment projects in Singapore. The site is strategically well positioned since three-fourths of global 300 mm wafer demand stems from Asia.
